Some of the reputable scientific books I’ve read indicate that the love affair with statins is based on faulty research and driven by the drug companies. That is not to say that some people don’t have heart disease that will kill them, but that, maybe, heart disease death may not truly be lessened by statins, at least not in all cases and not determined by mere chlorestrol numbers. I have always had higher cholesterol. My doctors pushing statins for 35 years. It makes me so sick. I’ve never been able to take them for more than a month before I’m bedridden. I’m healthier and more active than most people my age, 78, without statins. Like my current internist said “what’s the point of taking statins if you can’t get out of bed?”
