Am I wrong to be concerned about my Stage 3a CKD?
My eGFR took a drastic drop from 44 to 36. My doctor seems to be very blasé about. I asked if I needed a Nephrologist, or go on a renal diet, she just says “you’re not there yet”. WHERE?? My father lost a kidney to a renal cell carcinoma, and his sister had nephritis I don’t want to get to that point of losing a kidney or needing dialysis. Am I wrong to be worried? Any opinions out there?

@quiltergirl2 That's very encouraging information, don't you agree? As she said, diet is a critical factor in kidney health. Is the appointment on the 30th with a renal dietician?

She’s the dietician at the hospital but not sure if she’s a renal dietician. We’ll see when I get there.
@quiltergirl2 A renal dietician is schooled in kidney disease and situations.
https://www.renalnutrition.org/home is a website with a lot of information. You'll see on the top right, there is a link to help you find a renal dietician in your area.

Yeah, I saw the plate! The right dietician can help a lot. It seems I was being a bit too strict in some areas . Keep working and find the right one that will help you strike a balance.. I even went to a going away dinner for a friend and using my phone was able to find a recommended lower sodium offering at Olive Garden (not an easier task).
I know! It’s hard to eat out, so far I’ve been sticking to salads. Looking forward to my appointment on Monday. I will tell her that I want a sample diet NOT
a picture of a plate! She’s the dietician at the hospital so I am expecting more from her🤞
