Metoprolol aka Lopressor or Toprol XL?
Has anyone tried using this medication for PMR? Someone in another forum mentioned this because it interferes with IL-6.

I was taking 50mg Metoprolol (beta blocker, for heart issues) when PMR struck. I reduced it to half dose to see if things improved, which they didn't. I still take 25mg. It hasn't helped me as far as I can tell.
Edit: Found a paper re IL-6 and Metoprolol that you might be referring to. Reading it now, interesting.

I wasn't ever started on metoprolol for my extremely high prednisone related blood pressure. My cardiologist said I might need metoprolol except I was already beta-blocked without medications with a resting heart rate in the 50's. I started a diuretic, ACE inhibitor that was later switched to ARB called Losartin and one other blood pressure medication. When I had a pulmonary embolism, I was supposed to be on warfarin for rest of my life.
I had a cardiologist who didn't know much about PMR but he said I needed to get off Prednisone. As it turned out he was right. After 12 years of Prednisone and all those cardiac medications I was finally able to discontinue Prednisone. A year or so after stopping Prednisone, I was also able to discontinue all my cardiac medications.
I don't think metoprolol for PMR is a good idea. It is hard to know what it might do for conditions that aren't cardiac related.

I was taking 50 mg metoprolol before pmr was diagnosed. Reducing to 25 mg caused me to have vestibular migraines. When I increased the dose back to 50 mg the frequency decreased. Caffeine appears to be a trigger for my VM.
I am also taking Losartan.
I don't think metoprolol has affected my pmr.
