Stage 3b 2 positive lymph nodes one year later metastatic to liver
I had surgery to remove 1 large tumor 6.4 cm with 2 positive lympnoids. Went through oral chemo Capaecitabian and one round Oxaliplatin. My scan were all clear until 80 days ago after ct and then petscan now upper right lobe of liver shoes multiple small tumors and 2 small areas on lung rt less than 2mm Having liver biopsy next week. My Oncologist is putting me back on Capaecitabian 4 times daily then at least 4 iv rounds of iv chemo They consider this now stage 4 metastasized. Has anyone else experienced this?

So sorry to hear about your diagnoses upgrade. I had stage 3c right sided crc in July of 23 and did 12 rounds of 5FU with 2 rounds of ox which stopped due to allergic reaction. Seemed to work and was getting Ct scans every 3 months in abdominal and chest and they skipped an abdominal one round during monitoring and it appeared in the vaginal canal and iliac nodes and left tummy muscle. We are back on folfiri this time and it’s cleared it all up again but we will be on it indefinitely as a maintenance drug to keep it at bay. Unfortunately right sided is extremely aggressive especially in women and it only has a 13% 5 yr mortality rate. I plan on making that and more so I can see my son graduate college. Just saw him graduate HS! Eat healthy, keep positive! Do something you love for you, pray. We got this!
I would appreciate clarification of the statistic you provided. Are you saying 15% of right sided colon cancer who are women die by 5 years or are you saying 85% die by 5 years. It sounds like you are saying the latter and I have never seen a statistic like that anywhere. It would be helpful if you could provide your source for that. One has to be careful with data as many of the studies are old and even if they report their findings in 2023-2025, the actual studies may have been from 2008-2015 when treatments were different.
Thank you for your help.
So according to The American Cancer Society the survival rate to 5 yrs is 13% for distant recurrence. Beyond the immediate area of the cancer, considered stage 4. Based on what my own Dr told me for survival it tracks. I was told that I could maybe see my son graduate college ( he just graduated HS) if he accelerates all of his classes and doesn’t take summers off… I might get to see him graduate. I plan on sticking around longer though and feel like positive thoughts and prayers will get me there…. Along with healthy habits! This was from 2020, but can’t find anything more positive.
