reclast infusion

Posted by bmadewl @bmadewl, May 9 6:28am

Had my first reclast infusion in in February. It is now May and since then I have had lower back pain. I haven’t been able to work out at the gym as far as doing leg exercises because it seems to make it worse. I don’t know if this is a side effect or if it’s just something else has anybody had this issue?

So sorry you too had the bad reaction. I wish that I had seen this forum before I did that!
I think Reclast infusions are supposed to last a year. But like you, I’m not going to keep doing that!

Has anyone heard of arm, wrist, and hand pain a few months after a reclast infusion? Aching is sometimes unbearable. Had X-rays, they were normal.
Would love to hear what the thought is. Thanks

I have left arm pain and limited use of it. This was arm where infusion was applied. Exercise seems to help the pain but I still have limited distance in raising my arm and also reaching back to put on a jacket. Praying it gets better and doesn’t affect my right arm or any other part of my body.

I had mine last week and I thought I did fine, then on day 4, I had chills and extreme bone, joint and muscle pain. It’s day 8 post infusion and I am exhausted and have rotating joint pain. I already have arthritis, but this is arthritis of the worst ever. I’m supposed to take this again in 6 months, but can’t go through this again!

I’ve had two Zolendronic acid (Reclast) infusions in the past two years with absolutely no side effects. The majority of people have minor or no side effects but will not post on this thread. Just here to give my experience.

I did one reclast infusion years ago. The only side effect I had was diarrhea for a day.

I sure could use some advice about the Reclast infusion.
I have osteopenia, that has worsened since my last scan. My doctor says my risk of fracture has increased (I recently had ankle surgery due to a fracture).
I am worried about the side effects that my doctor mentioned. A possible Broken jaw and or broken femur.
I am one of those people who have that rare side effect from medications.
She said if I do not have the infusion she would recommend a medically necessary bone density test in a year.
1. Is there anything I can do to increase my bone density without the Reclast?
2. Am I being foolish waiting?
3. Any advice?
4. Any alternative that might not be so dangerous?

I have used a variety of products, methods and experience with the gastly bone growth stimulator drugs(injections), first off those drugs(Tymlos etc.,) should be avoided at all costs, the side effects were horrendous and benefits were minimal, weight lifting is beneficial but the MOST beneficial for me has been Citracal-which has improved my T score FAR MORE than any prescription medication or other method.
Good Luck

Yes ! You are not alone. I experienced the same pains in my joints and hands that you describe. The only explanation I get from my endocrinologist is that I have to "wade it out" and it will become less intense. Little comfort for those of us who are experiencing the pain.
Keep us posted on how you are feeling . Good Luck
