Have taken several different kinds for four years. Want to get back to clear thinking and need to work.

I wanted to try and give you some well deserved credit, it’s definitely very challenging to go through the process of finding yourself again after much turmoil. The medications are crucial to your recovery along with therapy but you know that already, the thing is that finding the right medicine is a big part of getting better but it always takes time for most people to do so, there’s really no short cuts just perseverance until you have the ones that work. I think you’ll find many people here that have been through this or are still working on it, lots of very helpful tips for you to try and most importantly to help you feel that your not alone. I know that you’re doing the right thing for your life and health, please don’t be discouraged if it seems difficult because all good things in life don’t come easy, try praying for strength and peace and never give up the battle.

Have you tried aripiprazole (Abilify)?

Yes. Mirtazapine works well for me. I have taken it for years. I am not sure whether or not it is safe for me to have been on any medication for this long.

I don’t think that there’s a problem with taking the same medication for many years, it’s very common because if the medication is working for you then there’s no need to find another drug…you’re actually fortunate because most people are struggling to find the right medication, best wishes.
