Welcome to Connect, @livinlife12 As members in the forum, we’re not able to interpret blood results or diagnose illnesses. But we can use our personal experiences to help others gain insights on their conditions.

Blood numbers can fluctuate due to various reason and it always gets our blood pumping (pun intended) when we see results out of the norm on our labs. However, elevated numbers don’t immediatly mean cancer. But it’s important to find the underlying reason for the elevations.

Regarding the human growth hormones. From my understanding they can impact some blood readings. HGH stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells, by increasing erythropoietin levels. This can enhance oxygen delivery to tissues but may also increase blood viscosity.
Since the red blood cell numbers (Hgb and Hct) in your labs were primarily impacted it may stand to reason that your HGH intake had something to do with it. Red blood cells survive on an average of 120 days so if you stopped the HGH 3 weeks ago, if this is the culprit, it could take a few months for the blood work to reflect this. However, it’s also important not to assume this is the cause so follow-ups with your doctor or hematologist for repeated labs are advisable.

Do you have baseline blood work from time before you began the human growth hormones? Did your doctor refer you to a hematologist for a consult?

Sometimes doctors will suggest follow up blood work at 1-3 months initially when blood numbers are elevated. You mentioned that your primary care provider was concerned. What did she suggest? Did she refer you to a hematologist or request more blood tests in a month or so?

She fowarded results to a hermo. I hope its not something serious as in cancer or PV. Im very worried…. But like u said could be due to hgh usage/ post smoking 8 weeks ago…..

@livinlife12, While waiting to hear back from your doctor, the best thing for you to do right now is to continue ‘livin’ life’ as you’ve been! You’re obviously trying to be proactive with your health through working out at the gym and stopping smoking.

It’s not unusual to start feeling like an invalid or depressed when there’s a nebulous diagnosis hanging out in front of us or even recently diagnosed. Fear of the unknown is powerful. We fill our minds with all sorts of ‘what if’ stories, the bulk of which are unfounded. But what if everything turns out just fine??! So much valuable time was wasted, spent in anxiety mode.

Focus on eating a healthy diet, stay hydrated, exercise and enjoying your normal activities. Bodies are meant to heal! If something is amiss then you’ll face it, deal with it and get back to livin’ life! I love that @name, by the way!
Will you please let me know what you find out?

I copy/pasted your post into ChatGPT and this detailed summary can offer some conclusions to take to your doctor to confirm for accuracy and to decide next steps. https://chatgpt.com/c/68515d70-f17c-800a-b27e-4999a91877d4

Since there may be defects in this query, your doctor may discount the entire conclusion and give you different results, so always rely on your doctor to guide your health care.

A different A! source could give a different explanation. But the more information you have , the better to have an informed doctor visit.

Congratulations on your success in quitting smoking. That is monumental !

Good luck.
