Has anyone used the Marodyne device to stimulate bone growth?

Posted by maryeve @maryeve, Aug 21, 2023

You stand on it twice a day for 10 minutes. It gently vibrates and also helps with improving balance. The Marodyne is made in Germany and costs about $3,000. It has not been FDA approved but there are studies in progress.

I have no idea if the Marodyne is making any difference at all. I take many supplements from different brands, but mainly Jarrow and Designs for Health.

If I had the funds I'd buy one. Would love to have as an addition to all the traditional things we're told to do. If you put marodyne in the search bar above, lots of comments will turn up🥰.

This is from Dr McCormicks book, Great Bones:

Hope this helps, Patty

be careful with those brands. They used to be great products but are now adding fillers and binders into their product. Very sad, I had to find other brands that worked. Bone maximizer by MRM and Superior Labs are good

I concur with you - if Marodyne was science based we would not be
here discussing it, and discussing it again.
We are so vulnerable and at times ..fearful, yes at times, the word
is fearful,
which makes us very susceptible to marketing messages,
and we will try most anything and everything.

About the Peer Reviewed studies on Marodyne, can someone link
a clinical study that does not have Dr Clinton Rubin's name on it.
Please share it with us.

I - always - look at the bottom of clinical studies to see the names
of professionals involved in the study, as well as conflict of
interest, such as grants from pharmaceutical companies.

I asked my physiotherapist about Marodyne.
He provided me with a xerox copy on study of whole body
vibration He says many PT and OP are guided on information
found on meta analyses.
You can go to Elsevier and download
Systematic review and meta analyses on the effects of whole body vibration on bone health.
It is a meta analyses. It is dated 2022, and downloads to your
computer as a zip file which opens quite easily.
It is difficult, to translate that data, technical stuff,
to real life decisions on what to buy.

As of now, approx 2 years after my diagnosis for 'severe
osteoporosis' - I still have not decided to take - or not to take
any drugs -
My very first appointment was with a young doctor,
a geriatrician I think, who walked into the room with a notepad
and in dulcent tone of an undertaker said - you have very severe osteoporosis.

Next came fear, and fear, and anxiety.

I then saw an older Endo who warned me I could be in the
30% who die within 2 years if I broke my hip. And why would I not
take Evenity, he asks, you haven't had a heart attack, have you,
discounting the possibility of cardiac events.

Don't make the bed - I said to myself, because someone fractured
doing that.
Don't lift that heavy water kettle - I said to myself - someone mentioned
fracturing.
Don't don't don't...reinforced by all those youtube videos..
I looked at so many on youtube..Margaret Martin and plenty of others.

One size does not fit all.
I was not..and did not have a recent history of fracturing.
And wondered...can I heel drop safely...can I lift weights over my head safely.
How heavy...

Sadly, it is hard to find - one clinic with Comprehensive locus for osteoporosis
patients to get information on everything we need to do to help bone density:
execize, including balance
nutrition.
and vitamins/supplements.
drugs, if you find it necessary.

When it comes to nutrients and supplements, it is so time consuming.
Each one of us has to find out what supplement, what nutrient
would help bone health.
Think of the time spent, searching for answers.
The advice most readily given to us is drugs.
It takes a lifetime to do research on each supplement or each nutrient,
delaying the optimum time to take them.

Nutrition, exercize and balance has been my focus for the past year.
I had a Dexa two week.
My spine improved 5.6% My hip improved 6.4%
My goal is to improve on these scores.

Excuse me if I laugh out loud here, but you said exactly how I've felt ever since the start of this journey. Perfectly!

I did cave bc I know myself well enough to know, I will never stick to a routine that will ever be good enough to win. Could I have taken a chance, of course, but chose to do Evenity. It was just overwhelming! The list was endless: prunes, fortibone, HIIT, foot stomps, videos, books, and banging my head against the wall had to end. I was exhausted, and yes, the rheumatologist, "you know you need to be taking something."

I am at peace with my decision but again fearful of a lifetime managing the drugs.

Very happy for YOU! Something is surely working. I gave it a year of my best and had more loss. Best wishes keep up the good work it is encouraging 🥰.

I started using the Marodyne for 9 months, twice a day. I am taking supplements too and doing all I can to improve my scores. My hip came down from -2.6 to -2.5, but my spine is worse from -3 to -3.3 in one year. I was expecting it to at least stop the loss, especially after paying so much for the Marodyne so I am highly disappointed!. I plan to get a REMS in a few weeks and see what it says. I need to add heavy weight lifting to my daily routine based on recent videos I have watched. So far, it is the only thing I am missing, because D3, K2, Algaecal, Boron, C2, Magnesium, B complex, zinc, collagen, have been introduced 3 years ago since I got diagnosed. I was lifting weights already, but apparently, I need to increase the load, which is a bit concerning because I have a hernia, but I will check with a therapist, hopefully soon. I have been reading about red light therapy too but that one has EMF's.. 🙁

I've adopted and maintained every natural approach possible, including the Marodyne vibration plate, since being diagnosed with osteoporosis three years ago. My DEXA scores have continued to deteriorate-from a -2.5 to -2.7 (hip) and to a -3.9 (spine) with a -4.6 in the L1 section. The technician who performed the first DEXA in 2021 said she couldn't get a reading on the spine because I have scoliosis in the lumbar region. (Which made no sense). I'm 69 years old. I followed guidance in Dr. McCormick's amazing book, as well as helpful tips from Margie Bissinger's annual bone "summits" and her podcast interviews with functional specialists. I have been taking all the recommended supplements, do weight bearing exercises, Zumba, and work with a physical therapist for the scoliosis. I was tested for underlying causes (like gluten issues) and none were positive. I think the contributing factors in my case are the scoliosis, which developed in my early teens, I was anorexic for four years in college, and hereditary factors from both Mom's and Dad's side of the family are likely playing a part. I started Tymlos injections three weeks ago. So far, so good. I really believed that the natural approaches would improve my bone density, and it appears many people have success with functional medicine exclusively, I'm just not onc of them. I'll continue everything I've been doing to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The good news is I haven't experienced a fracture.

I have been using the Marodyne device for two years . No benefit at all so far and I now have dizziness.

I'd like to sell my Marodyne, anyone know if there's a resale market? I've held on to it wondering if in the future it'll be found to help other conditions like poor balance or muscle strength after an injury. I wouldn't mind just unloading it. I am sorry I trusted Margaret Martin, the science just doesn't seem to be there.

I have one too — such a waste of money. If anyone one wants to try it to see if it will benefit them, I am willing to let it go dirt cheap.

I am very close to purchasing the Marodyne. I am willing to try everything rather than take osteoporosis meds. I think I am a very healthy 71 year old with -4.5 lumbar spine T score. I have added protein powder and collagen to my diet, reduced cafffeine, eliminated alcohol, consulted with a personal trainer, continue to exercise regularly, added more supplements. I am watching the YouTube video with Margaret Martin and Dr. Rubin today. I want this to work and sure hope I will not be scammed.

Edit to say that I just ordered the Marodyne. Because I live in Florida, I am being charged 7% sales tax. GRRR

Hi penny. I am reading this in 2025 and was wondering how the marodyne worked for you? I am newly diagnosed (through a DEXA scan) at 63 with -3.2 for my lumbar and am trying NOT to take any meds…changing my diet, doing weight training, supplements, etc.
