Severe Ozempic Side Effects

Posted by labgirl @labgirl, Nov 16, 2023

I am new to taking ozempic and just started 5 days ago. The prescribed dose was 0.5 mg and I have been so sick ever since I injected that dose.
I'm experiencing nausea, dry heaves, and most unexpectedly, severe anxiety. I feel like I'd like to crawl out of my skin and can't wait till this drug clears my system. I can't eat, but I know it's not healthy to totally forgo essential certain vitamins and minerals. I snack on pretzels because they are bland and have salt.
Has anyone else had an extreme anxiety and sickness response to starting Ozempic?

Has anyone had experience with rybelsus and finding it cheaper? Thx

I was tapering off of another anti anxiety med so I thought my increased anxiety was from that but when I quit taking Ozempic I felt so much better. I am now sleeping better and my anxiety is better. I had extreme nasal congestion too! Now to find something for my increased blood sugars!

I have had a runny nose and extreme anxiety. I had no idea it was a side effect of Ozempic. Thanks for sharing this. I have stomach cramps this week and think it maybe time to quit this drug.

Interesting. I feel calmer since being on Ozempic. The first few weeks, I was extremely nauseous. I have a day or two of nausea when they bump up my dose, but friends had told me it was normal. I’m on 1mg now and doing well!

After seeing these comments I will NEVER take ozempic again. I got horrible headaches, the feeling of acid reflux and I ended up having a swollen pancreas which cause me to have an emergency surgery. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthier, drink lots of water and exercise.

I have been on Ozempic for a year. I don't have much side effect other then some digestion issue and constupation. However, I noticed loosing muscels, did any one experience that?

I just started taking Ozempic 1 mg and I’ve developed sensitivity on the trunk and back and lower legs. It’s as if I have a serious serious Sun burn. My skin hurts to the touch and to move. Has anyone else had this?

Hi, @sruedlinger. I wanted to let you know I moved your post on Ozempic here since others are talking about side effects of this medication in this discussion:

I began ozempic last December with absolutely no side effects. Wt loss was minimal, but A1c did decrease. Dosage was slowly increased with still no side effects. In March began 1.0 dose with no side effects until June 7. At that time after a restaurant breakfast larger than I would normally eat at 8:30 a.m., by 12:30 p.m. I was violently vomiting and presumed I perhaps had food poisoning??? Felt fatigued the next day and then activity and appetite returned to normal. I did my weekly injection yesterday; however, today I am extremely nauseated with lots of belching. No vomiting so far after eating a half sandwich. Since December I have probably lost about 15 lb, but have not experienced a huge decrease in desire/ability to eat anything I wanted. Is it possible I have reached and now surpassed a tolerable dosage at 1.0? I have a doctor's appointment next month, but wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with an increased dose after tolerating all other levels of ozempic.

Fortunately, I was able to transition to 1.0 Ozempic without any adverse effects. (Was pleasantly surprised because I expected what I experienced when I first started taking Ozempic)
