Hmmm..
I was diagnosed with CLL after my PCP referred me to a hematologist/oncologist following an elevated WBC during routine bloodwork.
Stage 0, no noticeable symptoms.
I am 69 years old and had a fall where I broke my humerus in two! I had never broken a bone or had any significant surgery.
Initially had an intermedullary nail implanted and all seemed good at my first followup. Next followup, all the signs of bone healing had vanished.
Removed the nail and put in plate and screws. Next followup, the top two screws had worked loose and the plate was not holding the break together.
Next, my surgeon removed the plate and put in a fibular cadaver bone and another plate and screws. That was four months ago. Last followup was inconclusive as the plate prevented a good view of the fracture site. Currently doing home treatment with ultrasound bone growth stimulating device. Followup in August.
Following my initial surgery, my hair started shedding (and I had long, beautiful hair! 😪) I asked my surgeon, who said in the thousands of surgeries he had done, there had been no incidents of hair loss. I had wondered if this could be a side effect of anesthesia. The last procedure had me out for five hours!
I know I've drifted off the CLL topic somewhat, but I had always wondered of the CLL had something to do with my bones not healing properly. Up until this point I had never had any problem healing from anything!
I'm new to this site and appreciate all who share their experiences.
Following your comments and any discussion to come, because I need knee replacement and I’m concerned about healing due to my CLL. I had an incident in 2019 from a dermatologist biopsy on my lower leg that took over six months to heal and left a bad scar. Prayers for your healing!
