Thanks so much Diane! Have now been in the rehab hospital for 2 1/2 weeks. They’re going to evaluate my case tomorrow and see if I can go home in the next few days or when. I will need 24 seven HomeCare for a week or two they said. I had a great Speech Therapist and don’t Need speech therapy anymore. We’re now working on mostly the occupational and physical exercise therapy A couple of hours a day, and I have gained a lot of strength in my left leg, but not Completely back to normal.my left knee has always been a problem. taking a few steps on a walker. Practicing transferring from wheelchair to bed and wheelchair to chair, etc. I’ve been using Sara Stedy up till now. Left arm is coming back to life, but slowly. No good grip yet. Bicycling, arms and legs in the gym. Walking wheelchair around outside of my room as much as possible, both to get strength back, and to lower my blood sugar. They are very conservative with insulin here! Thank goodness for my Freestyle Libre CGM!!
I can’t tell you how much your message means to me, And I’m so glad that you are doing so well!!

I hope it is appropriate for me to join this conversation, as my mom recently had a stroke, and had emergency surgery today to remove blockage in her basilar artery feeding her brain. She made it through, thank God, but at the same time I feel lost and have a myriad of emotions running through me. She is still not out of danger but the odds against her have been lowered. Reading your post about your symptoms and achievements have given me hope. I thank the Mayo Clinic for this support group and I thank you for your post.

No Dear Grranny, THANK YOU. Sounds to me like you are on the right track, have negotiated peace with your body and mind and most importantly have learned more than just how to survive. Congratulations my dear friend. I, for one, am very proud of you. I continuously find myself saying things like "oh my hands just can't do that anymore" or, the RA which has set in my body "will not allow me to drive nor walk too far anymore". My recent lesson has been that it is not that I can't do things any longer...it is that I have had to take each challenge, one at a time, and just merely learn how to do it differently. And, thus far, I am winning, one moment at a time. So no, we do not have to merely survive...we can continue to move forward, with grace and dignity. Please keep in touch, I do check in every now and then, and would love to hear about your new adventure. Kindly, Diane
