I used to buy at online medical suppliers but found out I could get them cheaper at amazon. I’ve had this one so long I can’t really tell you where I got it. You can search for hip cushion or foldable hip cushion, something like that. Most good cushions are about $40. $20 ones don’t usually last too long. I’ve tried the portable cheaper foam and even gel cushions but they just weren’t enough padding.
Another thing is that when I was in a lot of pain I used a raised padded cushion for the toilet seat so I didn’t have to lower myself as far. Putting a rail or walker nearby helps to steady yourself slowly while trying to sit, which helps, same thing while trying to sit in any chair or car. I don’t ride in higher vehicles anymore as it’s too much wear and tear to move my lower back and hips too much.
Getting a bath chair so you can sit, with a rail or walker nearby, and a waterproof cushion helps, as does a handheld shower wand, or you can sponge bathe.
You’ll figure this stuff out. DDD and stenosis don’t go away. The best you can do is to slow down the process by preventing more injuries and pain. When you’re tense from pain your muscles tense up and pull on the bones and ligaments more, so it’s good to learn other techniques to manage pain especially prayer, meditation and relaxation so you don’t have to rely on meds long term.
Short term you may need them if you’re in a lot of pain because you have to give the injured muscles etc around the bone time to recover, and if you’re in a lot of pain they can’t relax. You have to work out a recovery schedule and pain management technique for yourself. They don’t tell patients this which is why so many people get addicted
