Pain after recent Knee Replacement. What is normal? For how long?

Posted by pgcdds @pgcdds, Sep 4, 2021

Does anyone else feel a “ stabbing “ pain in the back of their knee when flexing it with slight resistance ? For example, when trying to rise from a chair and you bring your feet close to the chair’s base to stand up or just even standing and you flex your leg by raising your foot behind yourself ?

Have you talked to your doctor or surgeon about the pain in the knee cap?

Yes I spoke to my surgeon he said it’s scar tissue and it’s early days it’s on the left outside of my knee not all the time just when I walk

14 weeks post left knee TKR. Could not take NSAIDs for hives. Stopped Narcs, went heavily 4th week onwards on ice, Voltaren, Aspercreme with lidocaine for sleep and 500 mg CBD cream. The problem is narcs are bad for your system, GI systems and Sleep patterns. The other thing I practiced is sometimes folks overdo the exercising to do damage to the area, the muscles, tendons etc . Remember it is a major surgery and every part of your knee went through severe trauma. They need to heal and readjust to their new neighbor the Titanium prosthetic. This needs some TLC and Time. So what I did is two days of PT, just walking on the days after PT foe mobility and light exercise. This way you are giving the whole knee system plenty of rest. Hope this helps. All the best.
