I had my vision dimming and could not drive at night. Have cataracts in each eye. One eye operated to take
out cataract and eyesight improved but felt the eye was full and had some discomfort. Found out that I have cornea thinning or "holes in each cornea". I was not told about this until I was in follow-up. I cancelled other eye in having surgery. Since then I am thinking I was not informed about the actions of the disease and feel like I am floundering. Apparently, they thought I would have a patch done for each eye, but could not say anything but usually successful. Also, was told that taking out the cataract often led to more problems. I am 81 and am trying to keep the disease in a mild state. I have heard that driving long distances will put stress on my eyes even when wearing appropriate sunglasses. I put drops in each eye 6 times a day. I am going to find another opthamologist as this group could not wait to be done with me.

Thanks for the hug. I know there is no crystal ball for specialists, but I like to hear the game plan before put into action. I realize from reading comments that Fuchs Disease is indeed
inherited and some people get lucky with surgery for the DASEK, or even having the cataract removed can make eye worse. Not expecting specialists to be psychologists, but it is traumatic when eyes are involved.
