Hi
I was on request for 3 years after a spinal fracture and being diagnosed with osteopenia I didn't have any major side effects from it my bone density got better then I had to have radiation for breast cancer I fractured again this April 2025 and I'm now taking forteo which I'm struggling on I'm having a lot of side effects with the fatigue and some nausea my doctors on vacation so I can't see him until he's back mid August and I'm really frustrated
@pathoag, I just had my third DEXA in a year and a half. I paid cash for the second one, $50, and the third one was actually covered by my Medicare advantage insurance. The insurance is supposed to pay more frequently than twice a year if you are on osteoporosis medication. I think that the Dr has to put medically necessary. I also put on the DEXA questionnaire that I was having the test to see if my medication was working.
