My hand was immobilized by the nerve in the arm at the time of my
Mastectomy, 25 years ago. It cured itself at the time.. Now my
hand is doing it again. Is this possible after so long a time.

@donnaetta, I'm wondering if you had a brachial plexus injury. It is a rare but possible complication of mastectomy surgery. It can cause temporary or permanent loss of function and sensation in the arm. Recovery from a brachial plexus injury can be slow, potentially taking months or even years.
Have you recently had a new injury to your neck and shoulder area?
@donnaetta It is possible that you may have restrictions from scar tissue. All surgery creates scar tissue as do injuries. I have thoracic outlet syndrome which is a compression of the brachial plexus as well as blood vessels. I have been doing myofascial release therapy with my physical therapist to loosen the restrictions. There is a provider search at mfrtherapists.com. We also have a myofascial release discussion on Connect if you search for it. MFR may help your situation.

WOW! I pulled a muscle in my arm in January 2025 and finally went to an Ortho Express on Feb. 4th and the PA gave me an injection in the shoulder joint joint and apparently hit/injured a nerve and I have never had such pain even when giving birth. X-Rays show no problem with rotator cuff. I have done Physical therapy and it helps some and had some Myo facile release sessions which were great but the pain is rearing its ugly head again and I had a chiropractic treatment yesterday. Besides the excruciating pain my arm from the neck down to my thumb and pointing finger tingles like I'm being shocked! Ice pack helps somewhat and the roll on pain meds help. Wish we had a solution.
