Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat?
It seems there is very little you can eat that is healthy for the Kidneys. The web site Davida has plenty of food on it but contradicts what other sources say. Anyone know anything for breakfast, lunch and dinner that does not have any sugar or flour bodies the obvious boring or bland foods good for Kidneys and I’m allergic to sugar of any kind of sweetener and flour. Thank you.

I think the Chronometer is great! Now I can see exactly how much protein, potassium, phosphorus, etc. I consume each day. It has really helped me. Now, if I could just go more plant based, as my renal dietician recommended.🙄
@seapen and @susangail53 I have never heard of the Chronometer. I am interested in learning more. I have a nephrology follow up appointment coming up soon and will be sure to ask about this. Thank you for the suggestion.
Do a google search for cronometer.com
You can get a basic version for free. I dont know how that is different from the one my renal dietition gave me, so I dont know if you would need to pay for what you need.
It's great; however, I had issues in the beginning just manuering the site. Every time I had a question, customer service answered immediately and walked me through the steps! I use it every day. Best of luck!
I am a Vet and the VA offered plenty of nutritional and diabetic care. Not sure why yours is reluctant. See a Social Worker or the way to complain in the system or go to your gov't rep. Good luck. BTW: If I got good advice, it has nothing to do with who was POTUS, imo.
@debnova Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! First off, thank you for your service. It sounds like the nutritional and diabetic care you were offered and received may have advanced since that post from @crazyelf. Thank goodness, right?
Where are you on your kidney disease journey, may I ask? And, how are you handling having diabetes and kidney disease together?

My husband's kidneys are functioning at 48% now. We've been doing it by diet alone.
VA is not helping at all. In fact his new doctor tried to up his BP meds with out checking the other doctors reason for not doing that themselves.
See the VA doctors never want to know the past History of our Veterans.
@crazyelf I do believe that this not paying attention to medications and interactions, happens within the medical community as a whole, not just the VA system!
The best way, in my experiences, is to be as much of an advocate as we can for ourselves. In whatever form that might take. For me, it has meant sometimes questioning a prescription, discussion with pharmacist to get their opinion, and sometimes having a frank discussion with a doctor.

But because I questioned him about the meds and pointed out the different things to him he told us both to get out. He shoved me out the door.
Time to find a new Dr.? At the very least, a 2nd opinion!
