Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid

Posted by danny2022 @danny2022, Dec 18, 2022

Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

Yes Yes Yes !!!!
sticky flem
eating makes worse even drinking water causes reactions:
moisture disappears from my eyes and thick goop stuck in sinuses down right side of throat. I’ve learned to suck it down and spit out and to suck it up and spit out.

Hi @ccbwell. Just seeing you for first time I believe w my brain fog🙃 So may I suggest you track your food with the amount of phlegm production etc. Many of us have developed histamine/food & water reactions. So crazy but even tap water vs certain bottled waters can affect this🙃. I hope this helps you to your quickest healing

I posted briefly about this recently, but have improved even more! I started using saline nasal spray several times per day. My congestion and drainage have drastically improved. It’s amazing! My voice is almost normal! It sounds so simple, but it’s the only new thing I’m doing. I sure hope it stays. I had heard sbout doing it, but thought it sounded so lame. I say give it a chance.
Good luck to everyone.

Okay, stranger than stranger. When I had COVID on 9/1/24 I had the thickest and purest white phlegm. I occasionally hack up some phlegm the same color. Has anyone had the same experience?

This is 100% me! I had Covid in a horrible way a bit over 4-years ago. I will say that the sticky mucus has improved exponentially yet slowly over time. Drinking water and eating certain foods will trigger it, but it subsides in an hour or less.

I still often have thick swallowed mucus, a stuffy nose, and difficulty clearing my sinuses.

I have the same problem. I use a hand held nebulizer with distilled water and it makes it where I can cough the gunk up to where I can spit it out. If I don't use the nebulizer it turns into sinus pressure and congestion and on into a major headache across my forehead. I ordered the $59.99 one on Amazon after sending a couple back. Sold by: AOZHAN. I hope this is helpful!
