Hormone Replacement starting at 75yrs old
Doing reach, I have decided to try HRT with testosterone, very low dose. I’m in pretty good health, but was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rhuematica 2yrs ago. I’m Just trying to make a better life with what yrs I have left. There are so many positive messages out there, and yes I’m on the older side. I have 6 daughters and we have all been doing a lot of reading on this subject. Is there anyone else trying HRT at an older age?

Hi, I stopped using vaginal hrt at age 58, because it was causing weight gain, headaches, yeast infections, and circulation problems. I also felt that it was harder to breathe, anyway, I’ve been fine without it, and all I do is take probiotics and eat non-fat Greek organic yogurt with berries and it seems to keep things balanced down there! I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago, and I did have fibroids then. Anyway, I think I wouldn’t take hrt at age 75, you want to do everything to protect your heart health and I really do think hrt affects circulation and therefore heart health. Blessings to you!! Use good food as thy medicine!
@dooshie , Please keep us posted on your experiences with HRT. At 71, I am considering asking my GP to refer me to someone experienced with HRT. Hoping I can find something I can tolerate as I am very sensitive to meds. I walk about 100 miles outside a month but have all the menopause woes such as vaginal atrophy, thinning hair, insomnia and the list goes on….
I am 73 and have been using Estradoil for 4 years. I have vulvodynia and at first I was leary about estrogen, but so far it has worked well for me.
I have vulvodynia which got worse after menopause. My gynecologist is very good and put me on estradoil and I'm also on gabapentin. The estradoil is a very low dose. I hope this helps.
Due to severe vaginal atrophy, I was prescribed estradiol and it has changed my life. So many issues of discomfort and pain have been relieved by it. One can use vaginal estradiol at any age after menopause (maybe before - I don't know).
Has anyone tried the all natural hormone replacement products. I know they are very expensive but it would worth it if they are safer.
Are you talking about bioidentical hormones?
I’m 79 years old and have used HRT for years - but as I age the vaginal tissues are thin and dry - starting to get some bleeding from it - have been on Vagifem for a while and think either the injecting or the actual hormone replacement is causing the bleeding. I’ve asked for a new hormone which is non injectable to see if that helps. Then I wonder if I need to be on HRT at my age. I read where one person started getting bladder infections without the HRT - so there’s another question. If anyone has some expert suggestions I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!
Yes. I was wondering if they really is a difference in the bio ones and the synthetic ones.
Absolutely. Synthetic are very dangerous. Do your research.
