Thanks! If I go to a NCI center, how am I going to get Medicare to pay for it. I am with Kaiser in Colorado, and they only cover so much.
I looked up Astriladen, and the cost is very high. Thanks for your response.
Contact their social work program. There may be options or none. Try different NCI centers. Not having supplemental insurance is a bad idea for this specific reason.
Thanks. I'll check in with social.
In the fall I will get extra coverage with my medical provider. I appreciate your info.
I am sorry but I'm not well versed on payment options. They usually have people to speak with in the accounting/billing department who can assist with options. That said, We have had minimal out of pocket and secondary insurance expense at Mayo as Medicare has covered so much including expensive surgeries and chemo infusions. Just deductable to worry about with small amounts on top of that.

2 ReactionsAccounting and billing cannot assist with payment alternatives regarding coverage. They simply collect.
I finished my BCG treatments 3 weeks ago. Had my first follow up with the urologist this week. It appears that the cancer is still there, I go for the TUBT in about a week. We shall see what the biopsy says.

2 ReactionsI have had four TURBT since Jan. of 25. I started BCG after the 2nd surgery but had to stop because the cancer returned. I was just told that my bladder is currently cancer free, but I do have cancer in my ureter. A stent was placed in the cancerous ureter and is scheduled for removal mid August. Treatment will be determined after the stent is removed. Why can’t the stent be removed sooner and treat the ureter cancer before it progresses.
The stent ensures urine flow from the kidney is possible. Kidney blockage and deterioration is very likely if a tumor obstructs urine flow. Surgery dates are often complicated by a limited number of operating rooms and availability of the surgeons.
Some what the same. I had the first surgery and the TURBT. Then I did the 6 weeks of BCG. About 2 months latter I had my first checkup and it showed another node and an area my doctor said was not looking right. So we did a second TURBT. He cauterized the whole area and took 2 specimens for biopsy. Needless to say I was very scared the cancer was back. But the Bladder Gods looked favorable on me and the biopsy came back with no cancer. My doctor ordered in about 4 months I will do a second BCG treatment as a precaution after the next checkup.
So hang in there and do whatever your doctor tells you is best to do. As I understand many do the second BCG treatment.
