Can weight gain cause progression from MGUS to myeloma?

Posted by amyboylan1 @amyboylan1, May 13 11:25am

I have been diagnosed with MGUS. I have read that weight gain can cause progression from MGUS to MM. I’ve gained quite a bit I think due to the anti depressants and food cravings. I’m so upset with myself. Please tell me about any experience or information you have about this. I’m would greatly appreciate it. I have my six month blood check in a few weeks and am very concerned. Thank you, Amy

Be carful Tumeric can stop absorption of iron severely. It was a great anti inflammatory substitute instead of IB but I need iron lol

Sorry, but you don't know that. You know that, after following the "plant based diet" for an unspecified period of time, your IgG k went down. Things like IgG k fluctuate normally. You can't assume a causal relationship.

In other words, post hoc ergo propter hoc is a logical fallacy. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of turmeric and a vegetarian diet.

Hi. I have all of these and they are all abnormal or out of range. My last Dr. said I shouldn't worry because they fluctuate. I am not on any special diet I just try and eat healthy. I lost 17 pounds but it didn't affect these numbers. I'm curious about your question, too.
