NALU Peripheral Nerve Stimulator

Does anyone have any experience with the NALU brand Peripheral Nerve Stimulator work for chronic pain associated with Degenerative Disc Disease. I've had several fusions...nothing is helping.

I’m scheduled for an implant in June. During the trial, it helped me sleep better. After the trial, I’m back to sleeping little and feeling horrible. I have DDD but I’m all fused except for C1-C2 so that solves the DDD problem.

Hi Blewbel
My Dr. is scheduling me for the NALU device. I am fused at Lumbar and Cervical only and the rest of it is DDD. I have a severe Thecal sac nerve impingement. I have had nerve ablations which helped somewhat but still cannot sleep. I bought a $35 TENs unit on AMazon, it felt good but the patches have caused a bad rash so I'm waiting for it to clear up. I am praying this device helps as zero quality of life right now.

I have consulted with a few top surgeons here in CA, there is nothing they can do except for fuse the whole spine like yours...it terrifies me so I can't even consider it. Most recently I was told that the only thing possible was to fuse my whole spine....2 month recoup in nursing home....I can't 🙁 Please share your experience with the total fusion.

Thank you for responding. I am new to this site, just looking for some hope.

I’ve had the Nalu stimulator with two leads for occipital and trigeminal neuralgia. It definitely helps, if only as a pleasant distraction from the headache pain.

Are they also not giving you any pain meds?

I am currently on 50 mcg fentanyl patch plus 3 oxicodone tablets 20 mg per day. I know this is a horrendous
amount of opioid but it's not even enough to make me comfortable......praying this will help. I've heard some can even discontinue the opiods? I wish they would do these types of procedures BEFORE they rx opiods.....but Medicare rather pay for cheap drugs

I’m allergic to opioids so Celebrux is my drug plus max amount of Tylenol.

I also take Celebrex. After over 15 years of being prescribed and taking 3 800 mg Ibuprofen I had to stop it all as my kidneys were suffering....so I only get ONE 100 mg. Celebrex...not enough but all I can have.

Unfortunately my Dr. had me stop acetaminophen or ibuprofen when my lab test showed problems with my kidneys from taking 2400 mg. daily for over 20 years.

Be careful using Acetaminophen or ibuprofen, it wreaks havoc on the GI and kidneys.
