Trigeminal neuralgia with Sjogrens disease
What is the best treatment for trigeminal neuralgia in an older lady with Sjogrens? My mom is 74 and in excruciating pain. She can’t eat or drink or even brush her teeth. She has tried carbamazepine, but it made her very dizzy. I’m very worried about her.

As I mentioned before my grandma had trigeminal neuralgia and she did try for a short period acupuncture but her relief was minimal and she became frustrated and stopped treatment. It didn't work for her but perhaps it may work for someone else, it doesn't hurt to try.

1 ReactionCan you elaborate on this? You mention that your pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia is coming from your neck. My doctor triggers , with every procedure I have the trigeminal nod. No positive effect on my pain, three different procedures, five times. Did you locate a nerv compression in your neck? Thank you.

1 ReactionHi. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and Sjogren’s disease. I am about to see a pain/anesthesia specialist for alternative treatment for it. I take Carbamazepine but it lowers my sodium too much and I get all sorts of symptoms. I often wind up in the emergency room and at times get admitted.
I hope that you can find a great pain specialist for your mother and she gets relief. That pain is just too much to bear. Take care.
