I'm so thankful for seeing your reply to this post. I'm 59 yrs old, I started noticing misalignment in my left eye, about 14 yrs ago. It was very gradual.
I had never had eye problems before, I had always bragged that my eyes were my " perfect part of me". ( We now see where bragging gets us...lol) I waited about 2 yrs before seeing the Eye Doctor, I think I was hoping it would just go away. It didn't happen often and wasn't always noticeable. But, I then knew I had to go, I noticed double TV screens one evening, that wasn't supposed to be.
I did see an Eye Doctor and she quickly walked me into her colleagues office next door, and he examined my eyes. I found out he was a Pediatric Opthalmologist, and he decided surgery would be helpful.
The surgery did wonders for a very long time. Unfortunately he moved for awhile after surgery, and so did my Eye Dr. They both moved to different states.
I just started having problems again about 2021. I went to an Eye Doctor, he tested me and told me that when I had that Strabismus surgery before, I should of been recommended to do exercises for the eyes afterwards, Eye Therapy of sorts for 6 weeks. He also said at times glasses are recommended for a while when muscles are strengthening?
He started me in glasses, I changed a few times different prescriptions and then in Aug of 2024, prisms were added. They have helped in many ways, but I also feel that the Strabismus is worse at times. It's always been my left eye only, but last night, I noticed my right eye travel outward for the first time.
Luckily, I just found out the Pediatric Opthalmologist I did see before, he has moved back to my city again. I am going to call and see if he can help me.
It's sad when a lot of people think because you aren't young anymore, that we need to accept things like this. I can't. I will find someone on this planet to help me.
So sorry for rambling! I just was excited to see a Pediatric Physician helped you! I have my fingers 🤞. Best wishes to you, keep those eyes healthy.
Good luck! You will find out what your options are with your particular situation. My results weren't perfect, but I continue to not have double vision.
It is wonderful to be able to drive freely. Your independence is a very important thing. Best wishes to you.
