Diagnosed with vascular dementia, I've been referred to a clinical physiological MD. I've never heard of this specialty. What do they do?

Have you seen a neurologist for full evaluation, testing, MRI imaging, EMG/nerve conduction studies?
Have you seen a cardiologist and vascular/vein specialist?
A psychological MD may be able to do specialized evaluations and prescribe medications for dementia. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication. This care may be intended to help manage mental health, anxiety and depression that may be symptoms of dementia.

Well aware of the above. That was not my question.
@jlam1950 I don’t know the speciality that you refer to. Are you referring to a psychologist? These professionals have a Ph.D. They are not medical doctors. Clinical psychologists and especially clinical neuropsychologists do cognitive testing with patients. Clinical psychologists do not treat vascular dementia but they do work with patients to help them with their cognitive problems. Did your doctor refer you for psychological testing?
One other thought I have - were you referred to a Physiatrist? These physicals are medical doctors and they specialize in what’s referred to as physical medicine and see people who have strokes, physical disabilities, or other physical problems related to a diagnosis.
Did your doctor make a referral for you?
Clinical Neurophysiologist, as posted on this doctor's page
@jlam1950 I’m not familiar with this speciality so I looked it up. Here is what I found on the Cleveland Clinic website which is a reliable website with valid information. When you get to the bottom of the page you will see that Clinical Neurophysiologist is described.

Doesn't seem appropriate for Vascular dementia
@jlam1950 If you do make the appointment with the clinical neurophysiologist would you please come back here and let me know what happens?
