Statins, as we know, lower your bad cholesterol so that more plaque does not accumulate. Without that, 50% becomes 70% becomes 90%, and then you need a stent at best and bypass surgery at worst. Statins also calcify any soft plaque, which is good because soft plaque is the kind that can rupture and cause a blood clot.

Once you have cardiovascular disease, it must be treated. Medication is the easiest way and often the only way apart from actual surgery.
