anyone else waiting?
after a recent diagnosis of osteoporosis, I am 65, I have decided to hold off on taking any RX medication. My blood work for calcium level came back normal. So apparently I have calcium but my bones aren't absorbing it. I want to know why. I have started taking Vitamin D3 to help with absorption. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes, I have heard D3 helps in absorption of calcium - which you could get from calcium rich foods alone since you are not deficient in it. And K2 helps absorb D3 which is why I have started taking Webber Naturals K2 + D3 ( 120mcg K2 + 1,000ui D3) once a day. I have not had bloodwork done recently so don’t know what my D3 level is since taking it, but I trust it’s doing its job. 🤷🏼♀️
I am 70 and I am also waiting on Rx medicine. I get calcium from food, take D and K2 MK7, B12, and E every day. I also eat prunes for boron. I just started BHRT. hopefully all this will keep my bones stable.
Are we twins? I’m also 65. Diagnosed in November. I just had a consultation with my endo and she was OK with my taking my time to decide my treatment. I will repeat my DEXA after one year of eating well (I was a snacker before: lots of chips, fries etc. I have a naturally thin frame so I could eat junk - and I did LOL), seeing a personal trainer for weight training, and taking supplements. If I hold I’ll continue as I am. If I decline I’ll do one year of evenity or tymlos followed by fosamax. I’m already very active: I run, walk, do HIIT classes but have ramped it up. My endo didn’t look at me like I was nuts in the head - she has a lot of patients who need time. She said if I was a lot older/less fit she’d be more insistent on meds.
Seriously how can you do prunes? LOL! I’ve really been trying but my “system” hates them. I buy the good, organic ones with no sorbital. I have not been able to do more than three a day and even that causes mayhem!
@maryandnans what is BHRT? I am terrible with acronyms!
@nannygoat5 what is HIIT?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
I started out with 2 daily, then gradually work up to 5.
High Intensity Interval Training
Essentially - burpees, sprints, jumping jacks, push ups, high knee runs, ladder runs, etc with 10 seconds rest in between.
@nannygoat5 wow … if I attempted any of these, I would feel crippled for weeks! I have GERD due to a hiatal hernia and any pressure on my stomach muscle can bring on chest pain that feels like a heart attack, never mind the crippling pain!
