After Evenity
I will have my last injection of Evenity in two weeks. I don't want to have a Reclast infusion because I have had up to 5 in the past. I am concerned about starting Prolia for the remainder of my life. I am 70. I am considering Forteo because my insurance will pay for that rather than Tymlos. Any suggestions? I can't take bisphosphates. They wreck havoc on my stomach.

Immediately, following your medical provider's advice. The good results of Evenity go away quickly if there is no follow up treatment.
I'm very skeptical about any of these treatments. All through my envenity treatment I complained about muscle, bone & joint pain- it was severe to what I have experienced. The doctor chuckled and said none of these symptoms are caused by the drug and I'm her own way laughed. I've been off of the treatment for 2 months (after the 12month treatment) and ironically my pain has decreased about 75% snd my treatment did not increase my bone density - it decreased. So I'm feeling that the treatment is more severe than the diagnosis. All I hear is you got to do some type of treatment / right now I'm doing nothing and trying to ween off of some other meds that I have been on for years. They want me to go Thylomos and I'm refusing. My experience!!!

1 ReactionThxs - since envenity, reclast or fosamax didn't do anything for me I really don't want to go thru all the side effects of any more of these medicines that say they will help bone strength. I might change my mind in a year or so but right now going on something will not maintain the envenity since it didn't work. I'm very frustrated with all of these doctors and not one can lead me down the right path. I'm just giving myself time and being very careful with every move. My original rheumatologist was great but the two others I've wanted opinions from are just useless and want to treat everything instead of their specialty. I'll get to the right answers but right now I'm feeling pretty good and don't want to be in pain like last year. Thxs for your feedback.

1 ReactionI had bad side effects with Tymlos, which you have to self inject daily… but every one is different. I had severe orthostatic hypotension and nausea. Lost 17 lbs though! I agree that these meds are just a crap shoot and docs really don’t have a reliable solution long term.

2 ReactionsThx you
ouch the cost...I have regular Medicare with a supplemental plan with AARP which cost 280/mo so $3,360. So there's that. However, I get the shot in my stomach which they pinch up the excess skin and give the injection. Every once in awhile there was a small amount of pain but nothing like with the first dose in the arms... ouch on that one too. Administration Fee? There was no admin fee for mine. I could see on the monthly statement some months it was a couple of thousand with zero co-pay. Anyway, I've finished now and everything is osteopenia now rather than osteoporosis which is some gains. Dr. has ordered reclast injection which I am researching that. Can't I just wait and see 'how it goes' after 6 months or a year? Also I have several dental implants which worry me
If you are on Medicare Advantage it's unlikely. If, however, you are regular Medicare with a supplement plan, it will pay. I realize that's an expensive route compared to Advantage but overall my supplement plan is $280.00/mo. But they refuse nothing.
How many prolia injections will you take? I am in same protocol and have had 1 prolia injection so far. My Dr. plans for no more than 3-4 prolia followed by reclast infusion. I was hoping for a drug holiday and frankly request scares me.
Post evenity hopes
I would like to have no more than two Prolia shots, then a short course of reclast and the another round of Evenity if I can get it. Then Prolia for the rest of my life. I am 77 and trying to buy time before I return to Prolia. I have a consult with another endocrinologist to get a younger perspective on sequencing choices . I'll report back after July.

1 ReactionNo side effects!
May I ask your age?
Do you have any allergies or history of stroke?
Are you taking any other medications?
I’m so afraid to start this!
