Duloxetine (brand name cymbalta) was prescribed for me by my rheumatologist when I was first diagnosed and it really cut down the pain. It's now one of the first things prescribed but people think it's only for depression. I was not depressed but I find I am less stressed than I used to be. I also walk 2 miles a day, lost 25 lbs. and my husband actually likes giving me massages which help like magic!

Duloxetine really has helped me with my general pain level. Recently, due to circumstances beyond my control, I didn't have any duloxetine for 5 days. My general pain level shot up significantly. Now that I'm back on it, the pain is much more manageable. It doesn't do away with the pain entirely, but it helps significantly. I know that some people can't tolerate it, but I'm grateful that I can. I started on a lower dose, but I'm on 90mg a day, which works for me. I do suffer from depression and anxiety, and duloxetine REALLY helps with that.

I also take low-dose naltrexone (3mg/day), and it really does help with the pain for me. Similarly, I was off LDN for a few days, and the pain was much worse. Back on it, and the pain relief was significant.

BTW, I know better than to go off meds suddenly, but a combination of cost and cognitive decline make medication management difficult for me. I'm working on solutions.
