I’ve been recommended to take an antidepressant to help relieve symptomsof IBS-c. Anyone else try an antidepressant for this and what specific antidepressant?

Hi @maggy2025 . It’s nice to meet you.
I am working through gut stuff, too. I understand IBS-C is a diagnosis after eliminating others. I know anti depressants of some type were down the list of items my local GI talked about for me to try but we did not get that far. I can’t give you a definitive answer but did find some good information Mayo Clinic has about it. It sounds like different types are used, but maybe aren’t a first line go-tos. Do you mind sharing what all you have ruled out as far as testing and diagnosis? How have you tried treating?
