Hello @paulinybeany and welcome to Mayo Connect. I can understand your concern. I had Shingles several years ago, and I know the pain is difficult to deal with. For me, the pain was severe for about five weeks and then began to lessen. Has she been diagnosed with Shingles?

I am glad she is being followed up with scans, ultrasounds, etc. I'm wondering if she has been seen by a dermatologist? Dermatologists are experts in rashes and other skin problems.
