First Appointment

Posted by emilyjchambers @emilyjchambers, 7 hours ago

Hey all! I am coming out to Rochester in June and I'm nervous that my intake questionnaire didn't capture everything I want to discuss (it's a complex case so I tried to just focus on the big stuff) - I'm afraid that I'll need more specialist consults once I get into the nitty gritty of ALL my symptoms and issues.

So my question is - how does the first appointment go? Will I have a chance to address additional concerns that I couldn't smoosh into my initial questionnaire? Will the doctor be able to add onto my itinerary at the first session? What are the odds that I'd be able to see additional specialists or have additional tests in that same week?

Thanks so much for any input!

Your first contact will probably be a resident so I'd say ask away. You can also say the same to the big cheese when they come in. Unless they are already scheduled it's unlikely you might get extra visits/appts the same or next day.

For me it was pre-determined that I would have an adrenalectomy so on my first visit I saw an endocrinologist, a urologist and the surgeon who wold do the adrenalectomy. I chose another option, but ended up having the adrenalectomy last summer.
