Good morning from Canada
I had a liver transplant in October 2020 in Vancouver BC. I know things are a bit different in Canada than in the States, but I'm pretty sure that some protocols are the same. I was discharged on day 5. I had 4 drains, 2 on each side. All of my drains were removed on day 3 while still in the hospital. I had 3 removed at one time and the last one the next day. I had a lot of leakage after and required bandaging for about 2 weeks following. Because I live fairly close to the hospital I was able to go home and commute into the hospital. Another thing is that I had my transplant during covid so things were different so most of my post transplant follow-ups were done via Telehealth and zoom. Don't over think everything. I liken the experience to that of having a baby. When it's all done you don't remember the pain you will only remember how amazing you feel. 💞

Very informative
Was the post transplant care giver involved in managing the leakage / drain after you went back home?

Thanks !!
