@jilljan
Were you asking me if I had any symptoms?
My EF is 25%. It has been at that number for about 10 years now. It was steadily going down and down until I went to Mayo Jacksonville for a second opinion. I had a consultation with a Mayo EP who recommended a ICD/Pacemaker. He also referred me to a heart failure doctor there at Mayo. I had a consultation with a HF specialist doctor who put on Entresto and Carvedilol.
I am sure that is why my EF stopped getting worse. I had hoped it would improve. I was told when you get HF it can continue to go down, remain at a certain level, and for the lucky ones improve.
I do not have any symptoms. My right ventricle is normal. My left ventricle is the one with low EF and enlarged. I really do not have any symptoms of heart failure. I have cardiomyopathy and it was determined I got HF from a virus infection not cardiovascular disease.
I am told I don't have exercise restrictions and symptoms because my RV is normal and supplies blood to my heart from my lungs not impeded. I was told I would not be able to do what I do if my RV was not normal.
I have been an avid exerciser all my life. My HF doctor told me he finds when a person is an avid exerciser all their life and gets heart failure many times the body can accommodate the lessor blood flow and adjust to it.
He does a pulmonary stress test every couple of years that lasts 17 minutes on treadmill going up and faster. I finished the test every time and my results show I am low risk for a cardiovascular event. Now I have to say that when taking test, I am not huffing and puffing and my legs saying "what" as the test gets really hard. But I finish which I am told is the goal. It does show my heart and cardiovascular system able to exercise and that is good.
I have no restriction on exercise. I am encouraged to keep my routine and when I do Sprint Triathlons to do them at moderate level to not overly strain my heart. I am 78 years old. I have found as I age my Sprint Triathlons get slower and slower. I'm not sure this is because of my HF or just getting old. I do not jog anymore during races. I race walk.
It is my daughter who has the EF of 95%. She has had a myectomy and has been on camzyos for 8 weeks. Her EF dropped after the first 4 weeks, but now has increased to 95. The NP we talked to Tuesday seemed surprised by the increase also. The only symptom she is having right now is fatigue.
