Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I wouldn't mind trying a pair of barefoot shoes, but I'm skeptical that they don't have enough support and that it would be easier to injure or cut your foot which is a very serious matter in neuropathy if it leads to an infection. Have you worn an orthotic with barefoot shoes?
Take care,
Jake

I would try them on first before drawing conclusions.
I don’t think you would need any additional support.
There are thick ones that offer more comfort.
Look up Whitin Or Hike Barefoot Shoes on Amazon & choose the ones that are
thicker. You can always exchange them if they’re not right for you.

I have several pairs of cushioned soles that are comfortable but not as versatile as the barefoot shoes which are great for exercise & better for walking & driving since the soles are thin & you can feel the pedals. There are plenty to choose from & most of them are inexpensive.

I have two questions about barefoot shoes. Are they comfortable for people with flat feet? Do you feel stones through the thinner soles?

Yes & no. Walking on rocks is doable but not great - flat feet should be ok.

Barefoot shoes have become my go to shoe with my feet neuropathy! They are comfortable, wide toe area and you can sense the ground you are walking on and I have never felt any sharp rocks etc. There was a recent study via an article about Hoka and Zero tennis shoes-- that shows there is way too much cushion and thus one does not exercise & condition the small and tiny muscles that are in the feet and toe area. Plus one is more prone to fall easier because of too much padding & cushion. That is where barefoot brand shoes shine! They constantly are conditioning and forcing one to use those muscles in your feet. I actually believe my neuropathy is lessened as far as the deadness/numb feel due to my barefoot shoes! I have nearly gone 100% of my time wearing my barefoot style shoes and my expensive Hoka and Zero tennis shoes sit on my shelves. Barefoot shoes on Amazon can go as low as $30-$45 and they are a great investment for your feet.

Sometimes its not about the shoes. I find I sometimes need to ditch the socks. As I write this I am now in LLBean topsiders which I have in green and blue. I also do a TV-run stretching program every morn and I am barefoot on the mat. I have never heard of the Barefoot shoes but I will look them up.

I absolutely love my Hike Barefoot shoes. I have 4 pairs now. My neuropathy doesn’t even bother me when I have these shoes on. I have had neuropathy for almost 20 years and these are the best shoes I have ever worn. LOVE THEM!!!
