Metoprolol under 24hr Heart Monitor measured 186bpm I was 1 year 6 months post stroke without being referred to a cardiologist or have a follow up after hospitalisation. Also it showed 2 sec pauses at night during my normally low H/R of 47avg bpm. Changed to Bisoprolol however this other BB showed 156 anf I was left there.
It was a CCB Diltiazem 120 CD mg early morning which controlled me down to 60s until afternoon and 80s after dropping the 2.5mg Bisoprolol.
Stopping Bisoprolol 2.5mg first down to 1.25 my PRO-BNP from 198 to 103 and further down to 89 now stopped. I have banned all BBs.
You need the correct med.

Something I’ve said here before , the best doctors and surgeons are at the best University hospital . Do some research and get a second opinion Your situation sounds like something that should not be happening Be proactive . Find good doctors with great credentials. Best

Diltiazem helped me, too. I was on it prior to 2nd ablation and felt much better. I'm still on Metoprolol, but that's been explained to me as helping my heart to pump blood more forcefully, needed because of some leaky heart valves. I don't know if those of you who are taking it have that issue. It didn't help with rate control for me, either.
