Clinical study on Denosumab (Prolia) - Will it change recommendations?

Posted by dyana @dyana, Apr 21, 2025

Has anyone's doctor discussed this study? It's a little too technical for me, but I wondered if and how it is going to change current recommendations. It can be found on the NIH PubMed site by searching for "Denosumab for osteoporosis treatment lamy"

Hi - glad to hear you are seeking other medical advice. Is it with a specialist? My Dexa scan 8 months after my Prolia injection did show improvement in all areas, which my Dr attributed to the one injection, which is possible. I plan to have another scan in 10 months and hope that I don't see a rebound/decrease in my numbers then. If so I may need to reconsider medication but would look at all other options before committing to Prolia again. In the meantime I continue to eat well, take calcium supplements, and do a lot of weight bearing exercise. I will be interested in knowing what your new Doctor recommends. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am 68 and have had one injection, also. I took it because my doctor prescribed it & I trusted her. After researching on my on I am appalled that she didn’t tell me about all the negative side effects! I have decided to discontinue it & changed doctors. I am apprehensive about the rebound effect. Have you had any experience with that?
