Refrigerating Tymlos daily.. quick question
Now that temperatures are climbing where I live, I am going to keep my Tymlos pen stored in the fridge ..
Must I first take it out of the fridge for an hour prior to giving myself the injection each day?

Hi dooshie,
Sorry if that was misleading - the nurses took the Evenity syringes out of the fridge. I did, indeed, go to the doc for the injections.
As an aside, the cost of Evenity (the medication) wasn’t covered by insurance as a medication for Part D because it was administered in a doc’s office. Tymlos, being self-administered, was covered as a Tier 5 drug with a hefty copay until the “gap” OOP deductible was reached.
Cheers!
I keep my TYMLOS 30 day pan on the kitchen table and my house stays between 65° and 78°. I keep the other 2 pens in the refrigerator and take the next pen out when the one on the table is finished. The medication needs to be refrigerated for storage however the current pen is fine in a temperate situation for 30 days. If you allow your house to get too warm, if you live in the desert without air air-conditioning, I think you should keep it in the refrigerator and take it out allowing it to get to room temp before Daily use.
I am doing the same for my Dr said kept in refrigerator it would last longer being I am titrating but I failed to ask how long. I was thinking until the usual 8 click dose was used. Have you been told differently?
@stress101, I haven't been told differently. However, I take only half a dose. When I tried to use the medication for 2 months, I got side effects with the start of a new pen. With a half dose, I think it lasts about 45 days.
Thank you for your reply. I will ask my Dr and see if she has any advice on that as well for forgot to ask when she said keep in fridge for it will last longer.
How long have you been taking half dose? And what side effects did you have? Curious for I have only gotten to four clicks once but had back pain and with my other problems wondered it the Tymlos added to the back pain and also my spine Dr wondered the same. I had to stop for couple of weeks and now back to two clicks for a week but began having more symptoms at three clicks. I wonder if it's just me or not.
@stress101, I could only manage 2 clicks at first and stayed on 2 clicks for 3 months. Then I broke my foot just by starting out for a walk. I pushed up to 3 clicks and did that for a couple weeks, then moved up to 4 clicks, but that was all I could tolerate. Side effects originally were dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and a queezy stomach. In time, I had no side effects on 4 clicks. I was on 4 clicks for 9 months. I saw a new endocrinologist who wanted me to try Forteo. Since she gave me a free sample, I tried it and surprisingly it didn't bother me. I was on a full dose of Forteo for 6 months. During the fifth month, I started having a lot of pain, fatigue and brain fog. I realized that I didn't have the energy to get much done. I changed back to 4 clicks of Tymlos a week ago. I have had some minor dizziness with it, still have some pain but less than with Forto, and I have more energy than when I was on Forteo. I have an endocrinologist appt next week and might get in trouble for changing my medicine on my own.
I really appreciate your information. I have a call into my Dr waiting for her answer if my back pain will ease over time. She once told me it wasn’t a symptom but several have said they have had it and it is listed as one. I already have back pain from the weakness of muscles from my fractures but it to me has aggravated it.
I did two clicks for six days but when I went to three, I was miserable. So think I will go back to two a little longer. I am tired with it and just don’t feel like doing anything. I wish there was more info on the therapeutic benefits of different clicks. I do know I read on here that windyshores doctor told her it was at four clicks. She wrote she could never do eight clicks but could eventually do six and seven. She had great results and why I am trying to learn to tolerate it. There isn’t enough information for us and why we have to advocate for ourselves. I’m sure your doctor will understand why you changed.
Thank you again.
@stress101, Are you taking it during the day? I have to take it at bedtime to sleep through the bad side effects. The endo wanted me to try taking it during the day. I tried after dinner and felt awful and wasted the evening. I tried it after breakfast, felt sick and wasted the day.
I began taking at night but gave me insomnia and awful headaches when I got up. So switched to morning. No headaches and really helps with insomnia. Wish I could take it at night though. Today when I went back from three to two, it was better. Guess it’s going to take me time. I have also asked my Dr about me having a small kidney stone if taking Tymlos was ok. I didn’t know that was also an issue with Tymlos. Hopefully it won’t be.
I think you going back at 4 clicks and not bothering you is awesome being you didn’t have to go back to two. Odd how our bodies react differently.
