I’m on 10mg of prednisone an started having a flare up. Dr put me on Methotrexate to help taper. How much should I go down?

MTX is used in rheumatoid arthritis patients to help fight inflammation. Its also a cancer drug. Classified as a DMARD. Dr's are using it on PMR patients to help with inflammation while you taper on your steroid. Many have found it doesnt work on PMR. It can also take up to a couple months to start working. I would say if it works for you thats great. But dont be discouraged if it doesnt. There are many other possibilities including the newer biologics to help. Almost any drug is better in the long run than prednisone. Just keep trying. I think your pain level will dictate how to taper.
