Clobetasol propionate for lichen sclerosus

Does clobetasol propionate irritate any of you w/ lichen sclerosus? It seems to be making mine worse and my ob/gyn says she'll do a biopsy if I'm not better in 3 weeks. Any alternatives to suggest?

I've used Clobetesol for lichens planus and it was effective for decreasing the itch, but the effect is not a lasting one. The rash returns and remaining free is not a cure with Clobetesol.

I thought I had lichen sclerosus, but instead it was diagnosed as some kind of dermatitis with precancerous cells. I was prescribed Clobetesol for the itch. It helped - sort of, but not consistently. My doctor took a biopsy, that mostly removed the tissue in that area - however, it has come back - just not as itchy. I only use the Clobetesol when the itching becomes a problem. I just don't think it's highly effective, just helpful - and it's one of those things they want you to use whether you have symptoms or not.

I have been using clobetasol, but my Dermatologist also just prescribed tacrolimus ointment. Upon application it causes intense burning and itching. This is supposed to be normal for this ointment, but it is lasting longer thatn 20 minutes. Has anyone experienced this?

Yes the itching is awful. Couldn’t the medication at all.

My drs office suggests chilling it before applying. Helps prevent sting/burn

I found that clobetasol cream does indeed burn. I now have mine put into an ointment base at a compounding pharmacy and it is 100% better.
