Brain MRI

Posted by gmamrj @gmamrj, 1 day ago

I recently had an MRI.
I am 83 years old. Very active. Volunteer to several organizations. Walk 2 miles several times a week
MRI report stated I have advanced white matter leukoaraiosis. Is that somewhat normal for a 83 year old brain?

What I read is that this is a common finding as we age. What type of doctor did you see and what symptoms do you have? Do you know why they had you get the MRI?

gmamrj, a recent study showed the 97% of people over 70 have advanced leukoaraiosis. Why was the MRI requisitioned, would be a question I'm possibly too polite to ask.
You lifestyle is certainly protecting those gray areas. Low vitamin D is often seen in association with leukorariosis. You might ask for a serum d lab.
