Cholangiocarcinoma: Dealing with husband's long stay in ICU

Posted by journey2025 @journey2025, Apr 27 10:28am

My husband diagnosed 12/22/24. Had the following surgery on 03/03/25:

1) Diagnostic laparoscopy
2) Exploratory laparotomy
3) Cholecystectomy
4) Extended R hepatectomy
5) En-bloc resection of extrahepatic biliary tree
6) En-bloc portal vein resection and reconstruction
7) En-bloc porta-hepatis lymphadenectomy
8) Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy reconstruction
9) Excision of small bowel nodule

Surgery was a success with negative margins. He is still inpatient and has been in ICU since 03/30/25. Can anyone share similar experiences??

@journey2025, this must be so hard for you and your family. A long ICU stay is exhausting in many different ways.

How is your husband doing? Is he out of ICU now? How are YOU doing?
