Bladder stone removal

Posted by louiserenaud @louiserenaud, Apr 3, 2023

Hello All,

I am scheduled to have a big stone removed from my bladder, using ultrasound.

What happens once the stone is broken to pieces? Can all the pieces be evacuated from the body by urinating? Is it painful? And what about if some pieces are still very big? Can they be evacuated through urine, or do they have to be removed again?

Thank you!!

I had a 2.2cm bladder stone removed by Holmium laser 3 weeks ago. Did not feel a thing in surgery - about 4 days of some pain and blood in urine and since condition very much improved. Urologist wanted to schedule prostate biopsy next next and I scheduled then cancelled - did not want recovery from biopsy to mess with my recovery from stone removal! (This after 3 years of UTIs!) Can post a picture of my (very ugly) stone if anybody wants to see one - let me know
