I have had neuropathy since 1999/2000 after my T7 complete injury yes I am paralyzed. I have no feeling below my injury yet my pain goes from my tailbone to my feet i take gabapentin but it only helps a little I didn't know there were other products out there that could help because this pain controls my life that's me in a nutshell
Welcome @leomulder, It must be terribly difficult trying to deal with the pain following your injury. There are quite a few complementary and alternative therapies that folks have tried for relieving neuropathy pain. If you haven't seen the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy site it has a lot of good information - https://www.foundationforpn.org/therapies/.
Have your doctors suggested any alternative treatments to help with the pain?

No I gave up on my pain doctor a long time ago but I'm sick and tired of my pain controlling my quality of life. If there are things out there that might help me even a little it would be a nice change to even spend half a day in my chair. I would be very interested in learning about some alternatives I guess I kind of gave up on help for my pain and maybe it's time I got off my ass
For me high doses of B12 (methylated as well as liquid) along with Magnesium Glycinate have helped. My story: Am new to this site as well as the discomfort (e.g. numbness, heat, tingling/prickly sensations) in my feet. It started maybe 6 months ago. Very slowly of course. When I finally realized it was not due to my shoes or physical activity the search began for a fix or just alleviation of the discomfort. So far my approach is helping. Good luck.
I take Vitamin B100 which can be found at Walgreens. This vitamin covers all the B vitamins 100% and also has vitamin C. Unfortunately, it's not one of the buy one get one free vitamins. It's about $25. I also do Vitamin D2000 and Magnesium. I read that these vitamins are good for back pain and neuropathy. I can't say that this is curing my problems which are chronic back pain from 2 failed spine surgeries, but it can't hurt to try.
I had a hospitalist doctor prescribe Vitamin B6 and magnesium glycinate for my peripheral neuropathy and Restless Leg Syndrome at bedtime. I have noticed a drastic reduction of symptoms. It has been about 3 weeks.
I know with certainty that my pains are much improved every time I go on a low carb diet. I eat meats, eggs, some cheese, fish and fresh fruits and veggies, And yes ... soon as I fall off and stop eating low carb and go to eating sugars , pain is back. I wish I had an answer why I cannot stop , maybe there is something to "sugar addiction"

Hello @heartnurseva, Welcome to Connect. I think you may be on to something with the sugar addiction. It is certainly one of the obstacles I struggle with and have like you, ups and downs with curbing my sugar intake. You mentioned low carb diet which was a blessing for me and the only way I was able to lose a lot of weight and finally be able to maintain the weight loss. There is another discussion you might find helpful where others have share similar struggles.

I sometimes can get rid of the sudden craving for a cookie or other sweets by drinking a glass of water or a cup of coffee/tea. Have you found anything that helps when you get those sugar cravings?

@maryaw Be cautious with B6. It can also cause neurpathy in high doses. I'd advise getting blood work done occasionally if you're taking more than 50mg/day and eating a healthy diet.
Other B vitamins are more forgiving in this regard.
You probably tried the wrong ones. Try Dynamic Nerve by Stonehenge. It has the right amounts of ALA and all the vitamin Bs. It doesn't cure my neuropathy, but I can sure feel a difference when I miss a dose.
