Please help me navigate the BMT process!
Hi, Everyone:
I’m waiting for a BMT (probably in May) and will relocate to Jacksonville for the procedure.
Can you share any tips on what to pack, mainly for the hospital?
Did you lose your hair during conditioning or after the transplant?
What did you wish you had known during this whole process?
Any must haves?
Thank you. Just trying to get my head around all this!
Best to all of you.

I am sending good vibes through the universe. I imagine the caregivers areas focused as the patient on the side effects and numbers. I had a recliner chair in my room, but my neighbor did not have one and the husband was staying overnight some nights. They asked if they could switch with me. I told the nurse of course. The recliner would have been nice. I suppose it all worked out as i got tired of the bed and took my pole to walk the halls. They want us to move.
Hello everyone
How are you doing ???
Hi @loribmt , I am so blessed having such beautiful Soul like you. Was so so busy with all the scheduled Appointments and so as the Transplant .
Yes So Finally My husband's BMT has done very Smoothly so as My Sons (as Donor) Stem Cell Collection and Yes your Calculation is absolutely Correct Its Day +6 today.
As you said the Pre-Conditioning Chemo and TBI are showing their side effects on his body now. He is feeling drowsiness fatigue nausea fever tiredness and very weak . Not able to eat properly as the mouth sores started not allowing him to swallow the food, His WBC decreased almost 0 . The Swealing near his ears are due to TBI only and it goes off after 7-8 hours.
I must say the Doctors Nurse and other staff members are very supportive . As per Doctors everything is going as planned and these side effects stay till 2-3 weeks .
I would like to appreciate each one of you for taking out your time and showing encouragement and Support .
@loribmt , It was such a hard time seeing your Son in Children's Hospital (as Donor) and Husband in another Hospital waiting for the Transplant . . Everyone praised my Son for this amazing thing being a mother I am so Proud of my Son.
Hoping everything goes well .
You stay blessed and happy always forever. Take Care everyone !
Congrats on the progress. Just curious, which drugs did they use in the pre-conditioning chemo?
Hey @markymarkfl
