Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

Barefoot Shoes is the answer & offers more relief than all the dozens of suggestions here - I’ve tried most of them. Barefoot Shoes strengthens your calves & ankles, improve balance helps to feel the pedals when driving. Available on Amazon - many styles, thick & thin with varied amounts of support. They are inexpensive, as well. Worth a try.

I ordered a pair, but returned as they were too narrow for my foot. I have SFN, mainly in my feet which makes it hard to walk.

Try Whitin Brand. They make extra wide toe width. There are many choices on Amazon & they are easy to return or exchange. It’s certainly worth a try.

I share your frustration.
I have wasted so much money trying to find shoes that might help with foot pain and balance related problems.
Let me know if you get any good answers

I’ve spent hundreds on all types of sneakers, including SKECHERS, ORTHO FIT, and the ones that helped me the most was Dr Comfort.
I got those at my podiatrists office.
Cost; $200 and not covered by my insurance but well worth it.

I've had chemo induced neuropathy in my feet for almost five years. It started off as pain with balance problems (think walking on soft carpet but feeling like you're walking on river rocks). This was also combined with areas of decreased sensitivity or numbness. Gabepentin helped with the pain which improved quite a bit after ending chemo. Walking helped with balance. I've found, personally, that a combination of shoe types helps me, so I rotate them. Hokas are very comfortable (cloud-like), but can exacerbate the numbness. Barefoot shoe styles (Barefoot wannabees like Hike, many available on Amazon quite inexpensively) help with numbness which can affect balance and driving. Sketchers are a good in-between for me. So I rotate them and also choose depending on the activity. Hokas are for walking (or running) distances or when your feet just hurt. Barefoot-types are fine for around the house or running errands. Sketchers are my default shoes.

Sorry, yes. Only shoes I found that don't make my feet burn.

Interesting assessment of all the shoes out there. My closest probably looks similar to yours but my conclusion is different. I have 9 pairs of Barefoot Shoes including boots because they work best for me.
It goes back to age old proverb “If it feels good ~ do it.”

One would think that by now, every shoe in the world has been described on this blog.

For a wide toebox, the ALTRA are great. $169 Sole Shoes in Scottsdale

For a very cushioned sole and slightly larger than normal toebox, the BROOKS are good. About $170 at Alan's Shoes in Tucson.

Men's shoe come a little wider in the toebox, so I sometimes buy men's.

Also, I try to wear open toe sandals at home and do foot exercises at least twice a day. (Rolling a tennis ball or knubby ball/ stretching my hamstrings, calves and bottom of the feet)
