CIDP and concerns about treatment risk factors

Posted by casey1329 @casey1329, Jul 25, 2022

I'm very concerned because my 71 yr. old husband is to be treated for "Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy" by Gamunex-C ( immune globulin) infusion therapy. Concern stems from the fact that my husband is older ( a risk factor mentioned by Gemunex), has high platelets 434 and Gemunex increases platelet levels. Lastly, my husband tends to get leg blood clots and Gemunex increases the risk for clots. Has anyone had experience with this type of therapy and what do you think about my concerns ? Thank you

Elowe,
My friends, could not believe my improvements. When I got hospitalized, my weakness was so strong I did not have the strength to push the device to call the nurse. After being hospitalized for a month in a rehab facility I went home in a wheelchair not knowing if i will be able to walk again.
Exercise made it, i cant emphasize enough its importance.

Yes this is the treatment I have been taking for over three years. I have had absolutely no side effects. I’m 82 and get treatment for 2 days once a month.
I did lose a couple of weeks during the bad hurricanes last year (I live in Florida). That caused a weakness due to backsliding but after a week of booster treatment I was back on schedule.
Good luck.
