We are doing well.
Our palliative care doctor was here yesterday. She will be the one to tell Mom when it is time to move. Also, with her help, Mom will be transferred to hospice care so we can get the extra help when needed. The transfer from palliative care to hospice care was great for caring for my dad.
The dr said that Mom's dementia is not noticeable to people who might meet her for short periods, she is starting to notice that she can't remember things. I'm enjoying her stories of her youth. She has mild COPD and macular degeneration, we use a wheelchair when we are out of the house.
Mom is not so sure she wants to move, but now that the doctor will be the one to ensure she moves, she won't be blaming me. One of my brothers told her Sunday that he agrees with her not wanting to leave her house, which messed up her willingness to go. So we are settling for maybe 1 to 2 years.
Change takes time.
The local YMCA is getting a hand bike, and Mom said she will go with me to use it. It will be good exercise for her, and I can use the cardio machines when we go.
