Please accept my personal welcome, @jtannen1. I'm glad that you have found Connect. We are a community who care, and we are ready to extend our love and support to you. I, too, can't wait until you get your turn. You have certainly been traveling a long time on this journey. I do not have any ideas to offer to you. In the meantime, please accept my prayers that a donor kidney will be soon waiting for you.
If you are listed at Mayo, then be assured that you are in the best possible place to be right now. Before my kidney transplant, I was on dialysis 41/2 hours for 3 days each week. I remembered how long that seemed to me each time. You sound like you are a strong and determined person. I feel certain that these traits will continue to carry you on until the perfect organ comes available to be your match.
If you don't mind me asking, How are you feeling? Are you able to do anything to pass the time?
I send you strength and continuing hope for your journey.
Rosemary

I am feeling ok physically but emotionally not so much. I even though it has been 5 years it seems longer.

@jtannen1 Yes, the waiting is unimaginable. I remember that it was as if the clock stopped; but still day turned to night, and night still turned to day. I did not have to wait nearly that long due to different circumstances, but one day at a time does feel like an eternity. I remember that every morning I would pray, "Please, make this the day." and every night I would pray, "Thank you for no crisis today, and let me make it until tomorrow." Waiting is not easy. And especially when you don't know when the waiting will end. All you can do is be ready and take care of yourself the best you can. And know that you are not alone.
