My partner has recently been diagnosed with stage 4, grade 2 pancreatic origin NET. She started lanreotide & is experiencing diarrhea but then painful problematic constipation. She has tried warm water, ginger tea, smooth move tea, and yoga. Advice?

Hi,
That is so awful to have to deal with and definitely not healthy. I can recommend a home remedy for constipation that my mom always gave me. I'm 79 and still use it. It's natural but may be a little harsh. It's a teaspoon or more if needed, of baking soda (the kind you cook with – Arm and Hammer) dissolved in a glass of water. Drink the whole glass. You may want to squeeze a little lemon juice in it to make it taste better. It tastes awful, but it works. Stay near the bathroom. It works fairly fast. By the way, this also helps get rid of gas and bloating. After it works, try and drink a lot of water to keep from being dehydrated.

Eating certain foods also help such as prunes, fruit, nuts etc. But you probably already know that.
I hope this helps you.

Thanks so much. If you do this, does one typically then get to something more normal in the next days?

And thanks for the food recommendation too. She’s been trying various things and today is on to prunes. Also, she’s 71…

You are so welcome! Yes, you do get back to normal even right after using it and being able to have normal bowel movements again. However, everyone is different. But this is natural and won't hurt you. Just be sure and drink a lot of water afterwards so you don't get dehydrated. Water helps with constipation too. Some other foods that help me are nuts, (any kind), and all kinds of fruit especially raisins and oatmeal. This baking soda recipe came from my grandmother and my great grandmother during the depression of the 1930's when things were scarce so you had home remedies. Like I stated, I've used it all my life thanks to my Mom giving it to me when I was little. I hope it helps!
